The Appeal

Dear Friends and Supporters,

My home community of Slipe, located about 5 km north of Black River in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, was devastated by Hurricane Melissa, the strongest storm ever recorded to hit the island. Homes were destroyed, farms wiped out, and essential infrastructure collapsed. Among the most significant losses was the Slipe Seventh-day Adventist Church—a cornerstone of faith and community for generations.

For decades, this church has been more than a place of worship. It has served as a safe haven, a center for spiritual growth, and a source of unity and purpose for families in Slipe. Restoring this institution will help bring back hope and stability to a community that has lost so much.

Our Goal

We have partnered with Mission Saint Faith, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to raise US$50,000 by January 10, 2026 to:

  • Repair and restore the Slipe Seventh-day Adventist Church

    • Install new roof, windows and doors, purchase new pews and other furnishings, a PA system, bibles, and hymnals

  • Provide support for the needy and vulnerable families in the community
